The foundation of SSP rests upon Dr. Stephen Porges's Polyvagal Theory. It focuses on how our body and nerves work together, impacting how we feel and act based on whether we feel safe or in danger. By understanding this theory, we gain a scientific way to use body-centered therapies to improve how we feel, think, and connect with others.
The Safe and Sound Protocol is an evidence-based therapeutic tool designed to reset the nervous system and return it to safety. This protocol is intended to work with other therapeutic approaches and modalities, the SSP features specially filtered music that stimulates the vagus nerve thus balancing the autonomic nervous system.
The Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP) is a sound‑based therapeutic intervention designed to support the autonomic nervous system in moving toward calm, balance, and a deeper sense of internal safety. Rooted in principles of nervous‑system regulation, the RRP works with the body’s natural capacity to shift out of defensive states and into restoration.
This protocol uses carefully curated audio frequencies and structured listening sessions to gently guide the system toward regulation. By supporting the neural pathways involved in relaxation and resilience, the RRP helps soften patterns of chronic stress and encourages a more grounded, settled state.
The Rest & Restore Protocol can be used on its own or alongside other therapeutic modalities. It complements body‑based, trauma‑informed, and nervous‑system‑focused approaches by enhancing the system’s ability to rest, integrate, and restore.

Together, they offer a complementary pathway toward nervous‑system balance, resilience, and wellbeing

Yes, it is very important for us ascertain if the protocol is suitable for you and if you can commit to both the listening and the coaching/counselling aspect of the program so you can go through the experience as safely and supported as possible.
The foundational program is 5 hours of listening to the specially modified music, along with this we check in with you and have counselling sessions tailored to your needs - (which ranges between different requirements) from 5 to 8 hours plus the initial hour consult. Each person's availability and thresholds differ but we estimate you can listen to 30- 80minutes per week.
After your initial consult, you will listen to your music track the first time for 10-20 minutes, you may decide to have your "check in" with us weekly, or as you need going through the program. Most of our clients choose to do this remotely from the convenience if their own home and you would be in a calm, quiet and comfortable place when you do your listening.

We do a detailed assessment and get to know your requirements
You can do these "check- ins" in 30-60 min increments
Typically through 5 hour foundational program clients require 6-8 hours of counselling (packages can be arranged to suit the client)
You can do your counselling “check- ins" in 30-60 min increments.
Some clients may be required to do additional listening at a later stage or repeat the program. Our professional counsellor will assess this after you have completed the foundational hours .

I’ve nearly finished my 5 hours of SSP and I’m amazed at the impact I had from even the first session. It’s made me calmer with my kids, more mindful, better at decision making and basically not going from 0-100 when feeling triggered by the kids or anxiety. I have been able to compare myself a few weeks ago and how I would normally respond to my more calmer reactions even under pressure. I’ve found this to be more effective than antidepressants and this is whilst dealing with lots of change and stress.
I’m thinking I’ll be sad when I am finished as I loved my SSP time and enjoyed zoning out and colouring in to make it more enjoyable. I am so much better for having tried SSP. Candice S

I saw a significant and meaningful change in my anxiety with SSP. I used to experience debilitating daily anxiety as my baseline state. With SSP, my anxiety has shifted from being constant to simply being situational, and I find it much easier to ease my anxiety when it does surface. Laura P
